📈 Coaching Method

The Wing Experience in Tarifa is built on Michi Rossmeier’s unique coaching approach, developed over more than 20 years of analyzing watersports technique. From his work on the Tricktionary book series to extensive hands-on coaching, Michi has refined a method that goes beyond simply telling riders what to do.
Understand the movement – don’t just copy it.
Instead of focusing only on repetition, this coaching explains why and how techniques work. By breaking movements down into clear components, riders gain the ability to analyze and improve their own riding long after the camp ends. The goal is not just short-term progress, but to give you the tools to keep progressing independently.

The program combines three key elements:

  1. Technical – On the Water
    Real-time feedback during your sessions, supported by targeted drills, demonstrations, and video analysis. Every run builds on the previous one, accelerating your progression on the water.
  2. Technical – On Land
    Practical exercises and drills on land to isolate and automate movements before transferring them into full riding. This ensures faster learning and more consistent execution.
  3. Mental Performance

When progression stalls, it’s often not technical – but mental. With a background in NLP and mental coaching, Michi helps riders overcome barriers such as fear, old habits, or pressure, unlocking the next level of performance.

 

🎓What partcipants work on

The focus adapts to each rider’s goals. Standard topics:

  • Flight stability – adjusting trim, finding your balance point, and body posture
  • Transitions – tacks, jibes, 360s, and everything in between
  • Downwind technique – Tarifa offers great downwind conditions and the perfect environment to get into downwinding technique
  • Trimming and gear tuning – getting maximum performance from your setup
  • Spot knowledge – reading the spot, currents, local hazards
  • Trick progression – personalized to each rider’s wishlist, from first jumps to frontside 360s, palao, backflip, frontflip

 

💦 About the Spot

The main wind directions are:

  • Poniente, which is from the ocean, onshore from the right. It’s a bit lighter, usually 15 to 25 knots, and is accelerated by the thermal effects from the dune. On the forecast, on Wind Guru, poniente is direction west/northwest and is usually accelerated slightly.
  • Which is the side drawer from the left, usually stronger at 30 to 40 knots, small to big chop, good for downwinders. If it’s too strong, we move to other spots. On the forecast wind from the east is Levante.

In Torbole, the wind works like clockwork:
